B2B Buying Signals: What to Track and How to Act
Published August 13, 2026 · Giress Kenn
Practical guidance for founders, B2B teams, and small agencies turning buyer signals into reviewed next actions.
Distinguish high, medium, and low buying signals, then choose the right next action. This guide keeps the evidence, customer fit, timing, and next action separate so every decision remains reviewable.
High-, medium-, and low-intent examples
A signal is a reason to investigate, not proof that a purchase will happen. Active searches and defined requirements are stronger than broad engagement or old category mentions.
- High: active search, replacement request, or deadline
- Medium: recurring pain or implementation question
- Low: category mention or educational discussion
- Negative: unrelated, self-promotional, or research-only context
Fit is not intent, and intent is not fit
Fit describes whether the business can credibly serve the person or company. Intent describes whether the evidence suggests an active need or decision. Review both independently.
- High fit and high intent: prioritize
- High fit and low intent: monitor
- Low fit and high intent: reject or refer
- Unclear fit: gather missing evidence
Qualification should preserve the source
Keep the source URL, observed date, exact evidence, intent reason, fit checks, exclusions, missing information, and recommended next action together.
- Public reply
- Private outreach draft
- Lead or campaign review
- Monitor
- Reject
How Privly fits
Privly starts with a reviewed customer profile, keeps the source evidence attached, and separates qualification from the next action.
It can prepare a public reply, message, campaign step, or follow-up draft. The user reviews and controls what happens next.
